Dark Terraforming would best fit a control or board-control Priest deck that expects opponents to develop several minions in a tight formation, since it can potentially deal 5 damage to the target and 4, 3, 2, and 1 to adjacent minions; however, its positional dependence, inability to target heroes, and declining damage make it unreliable against spread-out boards or large minions. In most formats, a consistent area-of-effect card such as Clean the Scene is better because it clears multiple minions without requiring positioning, while Mass Hysteria or Lightbomb can also provide stronger full-board answers depending on the available card pool. Dark Terraforming should generally not see competitive play unless the metagame is dominated by clustered mid-sized minions and Priest lacks better board clears, though it could be a reasonable niche choice in a slower control list.
