Auratouched Mage would be particularly beneficial in an Aura-centric deck, often found in formats like Commander or casual play, where enchantments play a significant role in strategy, such as in a Selesnya (green-white) build that focuses on buffing creatures with Auras. While there are other cards that can search for Auras, like Eidolon of Blossoms or Sram, Senior Edificer, Auratouched Mage offers the unique advantage of directly putting the Aura onto the battlefield, which can be more impactful than simply drawing it. Any Aura card you find must be able to enchant Auratouched Mage as it currently exists, or as it most recently existed on the battlefield if it’s no longer on the battlefield. If an effect has made the Mage an artifact, for example, you could search for an Aura with “enchant artifact.”
