A control or midrange white deck would benefit from including Austere Command in its strategy, as it provides versatile removal options against artifacts, enchantments, and creatures of various mana values. While it may not always be the absolute best choice for all situations, the flexibility it offers can be valuable in adapting to different board states. There are other strong removal options such as Wrath of God or Day of Judgment that may be more efficient in specific scenarios, but Austere Command's versatility can make it a solid inclusion in certain deck builds.

Each of the chosen modes happens sequentially. If a permanent has an ability that triggers whenever it or another permanent is destroyed, it will see permanents destroyed at the same time as it or before it, but not permanents destroyed by later modes.

If a card is exiled “until” another permanent leaves the battlefield, the exiled card returns to the battlefield immediately after that permanent leaves the battlefield during Austere Command’s resolution, and it may be destroyed by a later mode.
