Dimir Machinations would be beneficial in a control or combo deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's strategy by manipulating their library and searching for specific cards with transmute. However, there are potentially better cards for similar effects, such as Thoughtseize for targeted hand disruption or Demonic Tutor for more versatile searching, which may see more play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks.
