A deck that focuses on controlling the board through removal and gaining life would benefit from including Heliod's Intervention. It can be particularly effective in a white-based control deck that wants to deal with problematic artifacts and enchantments while also gaining life to stabilize against aggressive strategies. However, there are other cards like Cleansing Nova that offer similar effects with more flexibility, making them potentially better choices depending on the specific deck's needs. Heliod's Intervention could still see play as a sideboard option in certain metagames where artifact and enchantment removal is crucial.

The second mode of Heliod’s Intervention causes the player to gain one amount of life equal to twice X. It doesn’t cause the player to gain X life then gain X life again.
