Lightcaller would mainly benefit an aggressive or midrange Paladin deck that deals a lot of repeated damage through weapons, tokens, or wide boards, since Lifesteal could convert that pressure into substantial healing; however, giving the same benefit to the opponent is a major liability, especially against control decks or any strategy that can exploit wide boards and large minions more effectively. In most cases, a dedicated Paladin deck should prefer a one-sided or more reliable defensive weapon such as Truesilver Champion, which provides consistent healing without healing the opponent, or stronger modern weapon options that offer immediate tempo, removal, or synergy. Lightcaller should generally not see competitive play unless its Lifesteal effect is unusually powerful or the surrounding card pool specifically rewards symmetrical healing, because its drawback offsets much of the value of a three-mana weapon.
