While it provides a small evasive threat and hastens your artifact creatures, there are more efficient options such as Goblin Welder or Pia and Kiran Nalaar that offer stronger effects and synergies for similar mana costs. Despite this, Thopter Engineer can still find a home in casual or budget decks looking to capitalize on artifact synergy.
