This card could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on generating a lot of mana through creatures with high mana values. Decks that ramp quickly and have creatures with high mana costs would benefit the most from Energy Tap. However, there are better cards like Mana Drain or High Tide that provide more efficient mana generation, making Energy Tap less likely to see play in competitive decks.
