About M.O.T.H.E.R.
M.O.T.H.E.R., Minion, designed by Mooncolony first released in setembre del 2026 in the set Reign of the Black Empire.
M.O.T.H.E.R. would mainly benefit combo, control, and high-cost “big” decks that can keep several expensive cards in hand and carefully arrange them so the largest discounts hit their key pieces; reducing one card by 5 and neighboring cards by 4, 3, 2, and 1 could create enormous burst- or swing-turn potential. However, at 9 mana it is extremely slow, and its value depends heavily on hand size, card positioning, and having expensive cards ready to play, making it weak in aggressive, tempo, or low-curve decks. Emperor Thaurissan is generally the better and more reliable alternative because it costs only 6 mana and gradually discounts the entire hand, although M.O.T.H.E.R. offers a stronger immediate discount. Unless M.O.T.H.E.R. has exceptional stats or the effect reaches many cards consistently, it probably should not see widespread competitive play, though it could be powerful in specialized combo decks.
