About Harsh Sentence
Harsh Sentence, Spell, designed by Patrik Bjorkstrom first released in August 2026 in the set Escape from Violet Hold.
Harsh Sentence would theoretically fit a control, disruption, or fatigue Warlock deck that wants to delay an opponent’s next development while adding weak 3/3 Imps to their deck, but it is unlikely to see serious play: the effect is highly situational, affects only minions for one turn, can be played around with spells or existing board presence, and the two 3/3s are not a meaningful enough deck burden to compensate the opponent. In most cases, Cult Neophyte is better disruption against spell-heavy decks, while Loatheb provides a much stronger defensive lockout against any spell-based swing turn; if the goal is to disrupt combo decks, Dirty Rat or Theotar, the Mad Duke are also generally more impactful. Harsh Sentence might be playable in a slow Warlock if the metagame is dominated by expensive minion decks and the card has a very low mana cost, but as written it should generally not see play because its payoff is too weak and inconsistent.
