About Storm the Gates

Storm the Gates, Spell, designed by James Ryman first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Event.

Storm the Gates would fit best in a Beast-heavy Hunter or aggressive Beast/Undead tempo deck that can reliably play three qualifying minions early, such as Face Hunter, Beast Hunter, or certain Wild Deathrattle/Undead Hunter builds, since they naturally curve out with cheap tribal minions and can complete the Sidequest quickly for tempo; the discounted custom Zombeast provides midgame value and flexibility, especially in Wild where Deathstalker Rexxar synergies exist. However, in most modern formats it is generally too slow and low-impact compared to stronger 1‑mana plays like Bunch of Bananas, Ricochet Shot, or proactive minions that immediately affect the board, and current Hunter archetypes tend to prioritize burst damage, efficient removal, or stronger value engines over conditional rewards. As a result, while it can be fun and somewhat synergistic in tribal-focused or Wild value decks, it is usually outclassed by more efficient and impactful cards and would rarely see competitive
