About Thaw From Ice
Thaw From Ice, Spell, designed by Mooncolony first released in September 2026 in the set Reign of the Black Empire.
Thaw From Ice would best fit a slower Mage deck—especially a Highlander, Control, or value-oriented deck that can protect a generated Mage minion for several turns and exploit the eventual discount on an expensive payoff—but it is a very slow two-mana investment because it does not immediately affect the board and the assembled minion may be unreliable. In most competitive decks, stronger alternatives such as Discovery/value tools like Volume Up or more proactive cards such as Stargazing, Orbital Halo, or direct removal are likely better because they provide immediate resources or tempo; if the deck specifically rewards generating large Mage minions and can survive while waiting, Thaw From Ice may be playable as a one-of, but it generally should not see serious play unless its assembled minion pool is exceptionally powerful or the format is slow.
