Mesmerizing Benthid would be a great addition to a control deck in Magic: the Gathering, providing defensive capabilities with the Illusion tokens and protection with its hexproof ability. While it is a strong card for its cost, some may argue that cards like Torrential Gearhulk or Aetherling offer more versatility and impact in control strategies. However, Mesmerizing Benthid could still see play in decks looking to create a defensive board presence and protect key creatures.
