About Dread Leviathan
Dread Leviathan, Minion - beast, designed by Mike Sass first released in Feb, 2026 in the set CATACLYSM.
Dread Leviathan would fit best in a slower Demon Hunter control or midrange deck that wants a large Taunt to stabilize the board while also swinging a key minion matchup through its triple Health-steal Battlecry, making it particularly useful against decks that rely on one or two large threats rather than wide boards; the repeated 3-Health steal can effectively remove or cripple a mid-sized minion while making Leviathan much harder to kill. That said, at 9 mana it competes with more immediately impactful late-game options like Xhilag of the Abyss (board impact plus damage pressure), Jace Darkweaver in spell-heavy builds, or even neutral finishers that provide stronger swing turns or lethality, and many Demon Hunter archetypes prefer faster, more proactive win conditions rather than pure stabilization. Because of its high cost and lack of immediate board-wide impact, it would likely be a niche tech choice in slower metas dominated by big minions, but in most competitive environments it
