**Swordplay** fits best in aggressive **Amethyst tempo** or **challenger-focused midrange** decks that want to control the board through favorable challenges, especially alongside characters that already have decent Willpower and can survive combat—giving them +3 Strength for a turn can let smaller characters trade up efficiently or remove key opposing threats early for only 1 ink. It’s particularly useful in decks that pressure early board states or pair Amethyst with Steel or Ruby for combat-oriented strategies. However, it’s generally considered a lower-impact combat trick compared to stronger removal or value cards like **Fire the Cannons!** (Steel) for direct damage or **Dragon Fire** (Ruby) for unconditional removal, which provide more reliable answers.
