About Invoke the Firemind
Invoke the Firemind, Sorcery, designed by Zoltan Boros & Gabor Szikszai first released in Feb, 2006 in the set Guildpact and was printed exactly in 3 different ways.
A deck that focuses on card draw and spell-based damage would benefit from including Invoke the Firemind, as it offers versatile options for either drawing cards or dealing damage. However, in competitive Magic: the Gathering formats, there are often more efficient cards for either card draw or direct damage, such as Ancestral Recall or Lightning Bolt, respectively. While Invoke the Firemind can be a fun and flexible option, it may not see play in more optimized decks.

As you cast Invoke the Firemind, first you choose the mode (draw cards or deal damage), then you choose the value of X. You then choose a target, but only if you chose the second mode.
