About Gloom Ripper

Gloom Ripper, Creature — elf assassin, designed by Isabella Mazzanti first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Lorwyn Eclipsed and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

Gloom Ripper would fit best in a mono‑black or Golgari (black‑green) Elf tribal deck that is built to swarm the board and stock the graveyard, since it scales with both Elves in play and Elf cards in your graveyard; such a deck would likely be midrange‑aggressive, using self‑mill, sacrifice, or combat trades to grow X and turn this into a large temporary pump plus a sizable opposing creature shrink effect that can swing combat. However, at five mana and without built‑in evasion, removal, or a permanent buff, it competes poorly with stronger Elf payoffs like Elvish Archdruid (mana engine and permanent anthem), Shaman of the Pack (immediate life‑drain finisher in Golgari Elves), Ezuri, Renegade Leader (repeatable overrun effect), or even Skemfar Shadowsage, all of which typically provide more consistent or game‑ending impact for equal or less mana. As a result, unless a format specifically rewards graveyard‑count scaling or you want a flavorful combat trick on a creature body, Gloom Ripp
