About Haywire Hornswog

Haywire Hornswog, Minion - dragon, designed by Jim Nelson first released in Jan, 2026 in the set Across the Timeways.

Haywire Hornswog would fit best in an Overload-focused Shaman deck, particularly Overload or Control Shaman builds that consistently bank discounted payoffs by using cards like Lightning Bolt, Lightning Storm, or other Overload generators early and mid game; in such decks, Hornswog can become a very cheap, large Taunt with Elusive, making it difficult to remove with targeted spells and strong at stabilizing against aggressive strategies. However, whether it should see play depends on the meta: if faster decks dominate and you can reliably discount it to 3 mana or less, it becomes a strong defensive tool, but in slower or value-heavy metas there are often better standalone options like Neptulon the Tidehunter (for raw swing potential) or Glugg the Gulper (for sticky board presence), and even standard defensive tools or more synergistic Overload payoffs may provide more consistent value, so it is likely a niche inclusion rather than an auto-include unless Overload Shaman is both viable a
