About Sands of Time

Sands of Time, Artifact, designed by Paul Lee first released in Feb, 1997 in the set Visions. It's a key card in 4 combos.

A deck that focuses on disrupting the opponent's board state and taking advantage of tapped permanents would benefit from using Sands of Time in Magic: the Gathering. However, there are better options available such as Stasis, which provides a more powerful and one-sided effect by locking down the opponent's lands entirely. Sands of Time may not see much play in competitive decks due to its symmetrical effect and the existence of stronger alternatives like Stasis.

Rules

10/01/09

You can tap lands for mana before Sands of Time toggles your permanents. The mana you gain is in your mana pool during your upkeep step, but will disappear before your draw step if you don’t spend it. You cannot save it to be spent on the card you will draw this turn.

10/04/04

This card still affects players when it is tapped.
