About The Cold Dark Void
The Cold Dark Void, Spell, designed by Timur Shevtsov first released in September 2026 in the set Reign of the Black Empire.
Cold Dark Void would mainly benefit a Control or slower Midrange Death Knight deck that expects opponents to develop several minions next to one another, since it can deal up to 8 total damage for only 3 mana, but its value drops sharply against a single large minion or carefully spaced board. In most cases, however, it is less reliable than alternatives such as Asphyxiate for cleanly removing one important minion, Frost Strike for cheaper targeted damage plus card draw, or Corpse Explosion and Blood Boil for more dependable wide-board control and, in Blood decks, healing; therefore, it should generally not see play unless the metagame is dominated by small, tightly packed boards and the card’s Death Knight rune requirement fits the deck.
