About Ambitious Augmenter

Ambitious Augmenter, Creature — turtle wizard, designed by Mariah Tekulve first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Duel Commander.

Ambitious Augmenter fits best in a Simic (green-blue) +1/+1 counters or spells-matter deck, especially in formats like Limited or casual Commander where you’re consistently casting higher-cost spells to grow it quickly; it synergizes well with ramp, proliferate, and counter-doubling effects (like Hardened Scales or Branching Evolution) and works nicely in decks that care about Fractals or token value. However, at a base rate it’s generally underpowered compared to stronger counter engines such as Managorger Hydra (which grows on every spell cast without requiring higher mana spent), Lorescale Coatl, or even inexpensive threats like Tarmogoyf or Werewolf Pack Leader in competitive formats; for token synergy, cards like Master Biomancer or Fathom Mage often generate more consistent value. As a result, Ambitious Augmenter is solid in Limited and casual +1/+1 counter-themed decks but is unlikely to see play in higher-powered Constructed formats due to stronger, more efficient alternatives.
