About Jade Idol

Jade Idol, Artifact, designed by Ben Thompson first released in May, 2020 in the set Champions of Kamigawa.

A deck focused on Spirit or Arcane spells, such as a Tribal Spirit deck or a Kamigawa block-themed deck, would benefit from including Jade Idol. While it can provide a temporary 4/4 creature, there are more efficient options available like Drogskol Captain or Supreme Phantom for Spirit decks, making Jade Idol less competitive in most scenarios. Overall, it may not see much play in highly optimized decks, but could be a fun inclusion for casual or themed decks.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.
