Erratic Mutation kan nuttig zijn in een controledeck dat tot doel heeft de strategieën van tegenstanders te verstoren door de kracht van belangrijke wezens te verminderen. Het is echter mogelijk niet de meest efficiënte optie, omdat er betere alternatieven zijn, zoals Rapid Hybridization of Pongify, die een consistentere verwijdering bieden tegen lagere kosten.
