Pinecrest Ridge zou nuttig zijn in een deck dat zich richt op het aangaan van grotere spreuken, vooral in een rood-groene (Gruul) build die gebruik maakt van landgebaseerde strategieën of decks met zware wezens, omdat het zowel kleurloze mana biedt als de optie voor rood of groene mana ten koste van het niet ontsluiten bij de volgende beurt. Er zijn echter aantoonbaar betere opties zoals Fabled Passage of Commander's Sphere, die consistentere mana-fixing bieden en niet het nadeel hebben dat ze niet worden onttapt.
