Een kaartspel dat tot doel heeft de hand en hulpbronnen van de tegenstander te ontwrichten en tegelijkertijd profiteert van het trekken van extra kaarten, zoals een controle- of midrange-kaartspel, zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Spiteful Visions. Er zijn echter betere alternatieven, zoals Phyrexian Arena, die een consistent kaartvoordeel biedt zonder het nadeel dat de speler schade wordt toegebracht. Spiteful Visions zou in bepaalde nichestrategieën kunnen worden toegepast, maar over het algemeen zijn er efficiëntere kaarttrekkingsopties beschikbaar in Magic: the Gathering.
