Magical Hack, Instant, designed by Julie Baroh first released in Aug, 1993 in the set Limited Edition Alpha and was printed exactly in 14 different ways.
A deck that heavily relies on land types for abilities or strategies, such as a tribal deck focused on a specific land type like Merfolk or Elves, would benefit from using Magical Hack. However, there are better cards like Blood Moon or Prismatic Omen that have a broader impact on the game and are more versatile in disrupting opponents' strategies. Changing the text of a spell will not allow you to change the targets of the spell because the targets were chosen when the spell was cast. The text change will (probably) cause it to be countered since the targets will be illegal.

It can be used to change a land’s type from one basic land type to another. For example, Forest can be changed to Island so it produces blue mana. It doesn’t change the name of any permanent.
