About Spectacle Mage
Spectacle Mage, Creature — bird shaman, designed by Caroline Gariba first released in Mar, 2021 in the set Strixhaven: School of Mages.
This card would benefit a control deck that focuses on casting powerful instant and sorcery spells with high mana values. Decks that run a lot of expensive spells like extra turn spells, board wipes, or game-ending spells would greatly benefit from Spectacle Mage's cost reduction ability. While there may be other cards that offer similar effects, Spectacle Mage could still see play in decks looking to maximize the efficiency of their high-cost spells and provide additional synergy for a spell-heavy strategy.

If there is an in the spell’s mana cost, use the chosen value for X to determine its mana value. For example, if you cast a sorcery with mana cost and choose 4 for X, its mana value is 5.
