Fetid Devourer fits best in a rune-dense Death Knight deck—most plausibly Rainbow or slower control DK—that can reliably play rune cards early and turn it into its useful form before turn seven; it is much less appealing in neutral-heavy lists or aggressive decks that cannot afford a potentially slow, conditional top-end minion. It is unlikely to be a staple, because established DK finishers and swing cards are generally stronger and more immediate: Lord Marrowgar is better in Unholy corpse decks, Patchwerk is better in Blood control lists that need disruption, and Reska, the Pit Boss is usually a better board-swing threat when available. Fetid Devourer could see niche play if its transformed versions are consistently powerful in a specific rune package, but without an unusually strong transformation payoff, it is probably a fringe value card rather than a competitive default inclusion.
