Nature's Lore, Sorcery, designed by Rick Emond first released in Jun, 1995 in the set Ice Age and was printed exactly in 22 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.
A deck that heavily relies on having access to specific Forest cards early in the game, such as a ramp or landfall deck, would benefit from including Nature's Lore. However, there are arguably better cards like Rampant Growth or Farseek that can search for any basic land type, providing more flexibility. Nature's Lore could still see play in mono-green decks that prioritize Forests, but its effectiveness may vary depending on the overall strategy of the deck.

Because the “search” requires you to find a card with certain characteristics, you don’t have to find the card if you don’t want to.
