Darkwater Egg would benefit control or midrange decks looking to ramp into blue and black mana early in the game while also providing card draw. However, there are better options like Talisman of Dominance or Signets that provide more efficient mana fixing. Darkwater Egg could see play in niche deck builds that specifically want to draw cards while fixing mana, but overall it may be outclassed by more powerful options in most competitive decks.

This is a mana ability, which means it can be activated as part of the process of casting a spell or activating another ability. If that happens you get the mana right away, but you don’t get to look at the drawn card until you have finished casting that spell or activating that ability.
