Hungering Cavern best fits a token, sacrifice, or Deathrattle-focused Demon Hunter deck that can reliably have a small friendly minion die during its own turn, turning it into a free 2-damage Lifesteal ping while preserving mana for follow-up plays; it is less appealing in conventional aggressive or combo Demon Hunter lists, where the condition is inconsistent and two damage is low impact. Felscream Blast is generally the stronger alternative when opposing boards are common because its Lifesteal damage hits every minion, while Taste of Chaos is better for a straightforward single-target damage spell in lists that can use Spell Damage. Hungering Cavern should only see play if a competitive Demon Hunter archetype naturally and consistently triggers its discount, since a zero-mana healing removal tool can be useful, but it is probably too narrow and underpowered as an unconditional inclusion.
