Introduction
The new Hearthstone set, The Lost City of Un'Goro, came out just a few days ago, on July 8th, and brought us 145 new cards. It also inspired a few new decks, and they, in turn, quickly started dominating the meta. One of the best decks so far is Quest Paladin, which has a 64.3% win rate according to HSReplay on July 11th, 2025.
We, at Cards Realm, have been playing the new update nonstop just like everyone else in the community. So, we decided to take a break to bring you an exclusive guide. Today, we'll show you this list's main cards and combos, as well as its win condition and best mulligans. Check it out!
Quest Paladin
As its name suggests, Quest Paladin's main goal is to progress Dive the Golakka Depths.

There are two things about this quest that make it quite interesting. First, it is repeatable, so whenever you summon 5 Murlocs, you'll buff them by +1/+1, and, as such, you'll easily be able to buff them by +3/+3 or +4/+4. The other thing is that it states "Summon 5 Murlocs", not play, so Murmy's Reborn and Murloc Tidehunter and Steamfin Thief's tokens will also get buffs and progress this quest.

Considering that, this list's main goal is quite simple to understand: just fill your board with Murlocs. It should be easy, considering it was specifically designed to do this. Out of the 30 cards in it, 22 are Murlocs. It also plays one weapon and two spells that both give you more Murlocs.

At the end of the game, even your simplest 1-cost or 2-cost minions will be a problem to your opponent. Take a look at the final board we were able to build:

Main Cards
As any Murloc you summon will already progress Dive the Golakka Depths, this list plays many cards that summon them as tokens, like Murloc Tidehunter, Steamfin Thief, Tyrannogill, and Grunty. Even a single copy of these four cards will be excellent, as it will progress your quest and also help build a huge, devastating board.

As your board will nearly always be full of Murlocs, this list also plays a few AoE buffs, which will make them even more powerful. Murloc Warleader and Crusader Aura, for instance, will certainly be useful when your opponent would otherwise come out with 5 or 10 life after an attack.

Please note that most of the cards in this list don't cost a lot of mana, so you'll run out of resources fast. So, this list also plays great card draw, such as the aforementioned Underlight Angling Rod and Submerged Map, besides Braingill and Prize Vendor. They'll fuel you through your match.

Win Condition
This deck is pretty straightforward in terms of win condition, as it is Dive the Golakka Depths, or, if that isn't enough, then Murloc Warleader and Crusader Aura as well. These cards can turn any small Murloc into an unstoppable 8/8 minion that will destroy the enemy board and deal damage to the enemy hero.

We should highlight a few other minions as well. Any Murloc you play or summon will already be huge after you play your buffs, but Tyrannogill and Grunty will deal more damage. They can fight for the board on the round you play them and also leave several other Murlocs on the board. These, in turn, will deal a lot of damage the following turn.

Mulligan - Opening Hand
A quest list usually doesn't struggle with complicated mulligans and that's true for this one as well. Dive the Golakka Depths will always be in your opening hand, so keep it because it is your main win condition.

Finally, focus on cheap Murlocs you can play turn after turn, like the ones that summon more than one token - Murmy and Murloc Tidehunter. You can also go for Violet Treasuregill, which will cast a spell and probably put another minion in your hand.

This is your perfect opening hand, but you can improvise on the spot and get, for instance, Gnawing Greenfin and Hot Spring Glider, which are also decent early on. If any of them are in your opening hand already, you could keep them.

Matchups
This is one of the few lists that uses the same game plain against control lists and aggro lists. Regardless of what you're facing, just focus on playing your minions as fast as possible. If your opponent is putting pressure on you, trade your units to keep yourself alive until your buffs make your Murlocs huge.
Final Words
Quest Paladin is extremely easy to pilot. Playing Murlocs at random and with no clear plan may seem inefficient, but believe me: after you play a few buffs, your board will be quite threatening to your opponent. It's no surprise this is the second-best deck in the meta nowadays.
